As some of you know, Rick and I have spent a lot of time the past two years designing, then building my office/studio. My hubby (who used to own a construction company) completely demo'd a room in our basement and we started designing and building a room from scratch. It has been a long process and an even bigger obstacle for me to organize and stay on top of both my supplies and my Melissa Frances paperwork, but it is my favorite room in the house. It's a nice very pale robin's egg blue with white cupboards, butcher block counter tops and chandeliers! As the room is currently messy, I'm just going to give you a peek at my inspiration cupboard. It sits above the computer desk area of my room and houses some of my collections of things that make me happy.
First, it has a vintage photo. I usually change the picture up every once in awhile.
Then, we have my doll head. OK, I'll grant you that this is a weird thing to collect. I know. But I love them SO much. I have a few of them scattered around the house.
On the top right is a little glass house that I made in a workshop I did with the fabulously talented Sally Jean. I especially love that it has a photo of my grandma as a child on it.
You can see my big number 2. This is for me and my hubby. Add us up, and we make 2!
My lidded glass jars are so cute and they are currently holding buttons. (Just wait until I show you the upstairs of my house, lots of them up there!)
The last two collections that are represented are my cast iron hand. (I originally started my hand collection when I bought an antique glove form at a shop in Phoenix. Slowly, but surely, I am finding more and adding them to the group) and my Sally Jean original. I have bought her charms for a few years and am blessed to call her one of my friends and art heroes. Over the past six months I have added a few of her original pieces to my collection, which makes me very happy indeed!
I hope you've enjoyed taking a peek around my little 'inspiration cupboard'!
