A little something...

Contact_book

I made a while back. I took a plain business card holder, covered it with patterned paper, then after cutting up some of my favorite fabrics with pinking scissors, sewed them onto the cover. Finally, I printed a title onto cardstock and glued it to the cover.

I hope you're all having a nice week. Rick and I did end up purchasing the table that we went to look at on Sunday. It's a harvest/farmhouse style dining room table. However, I'm not going to show it to you yet as it has to be refinished. But because of that, we were able to get a great deal on it - Yeay!

Are any of you excited about the fall TV schedule starting up again? I am. I've already told you that my 2 favorites are The Amazing Race and Survivor, so I'm thrilled that they have either already started, or are starting up again soon. Rick and I watched the premiere of Hero's last night. (It's one of his favorite shows) I thought it was pretty good, although I didn't follow the show hard core last season, so Rick had to fill in many holes for me. I also taped the 'Dancing' show last night...wow, that little Cheetah girl was amazing! Fun show love that it's suitable for the family to watch together. Anyways, that's what I'm watching...What shows are you looking forward to this fall?

And the winner is....

Price_tag_from_photo_album_2 KELLY V!

I found my awesome vintage photo album for $2.99. Please don't hate me. After 9 years of looking, this is the first photo album I have ever seen at this store. (I have managed to find 2 others in the past month at a booth in an antique mall that was closing. They were also both under $10. However, it is a rare thing to find them at all, and I have never seen them at the Goodwill store.) I must have been a very good girl to find so many in such a short time!

Kelly, please send me an email with your address. You can find an 'email me' button under my headshot at the top left.

I hope you each are having a great weekend. Tomorrow Rick and I are running out to take a look at a table we found on Craigslist. Crossing our fingers that it's as good a deal as it looks.

If you're looking for Melissa Frances products..

Melissa_frances_logo_2 Just wanted to let you know that there will be two different Melissa Frances kits on QVC  (USA) tomorrow. The kits will be on air sometime between 2 and 5 PM EST. The sample projects were designed by Amber Tosh and Melissa Phillips and are completely adorable. Enjoy!

ps - also realized that I won't be at home tomorrow night, so the price guessing contest (see post below) will go until noon PST on Saturday.

They say that...

Photo_album

One person's trash is another person's treasure. This week I have been especially blessed with some great finds at my local thrift and antique shops. My best bargain? An old photo album from the 1920-30s.  It has literally hundreds of old photos in it. Lots of beachy ones too...can you say pin-up girls (and guys - wink!)? So, in honor of my recent find, I thought it was time to play another fun game. It's time to guess how much you thought my photo album cost me. I'll leave the contest open until Friday night (unless someone guesses the price exactly.) We'll do it 'Price is Right' style and the winner will be the first person who guesses closest to the price without going over. Winner will receive a packet of scrapbook supplies valued at over $50. So guess away.

In other news, busy, busy, busy around here (just like most of you I'm sure).  Rick and his buddy went down to Seattle for a Mariners game last weekend. Seattle won and Rick got to eat at a Cheesecake Factory, so he was a happy camper. While Rick was out, I watched the first DVD of the series Planet Earth. It's absolutely stunning. Apparently the US Discovery Channel aired portions of the documentary last year. The version I'm watching is the full BBC version. If you're a fan of documentaries (like me!), this series is a must see. I've only watched the first 3 episodes, so I'm totally looking forward to renting the next DVD in the series.  I've been asked about Melissa Frances and whether we were attending Memory Trends. We have made the decision as a company to not attend Memory Trends, nor release new product for the show. You can look forward to an awesome release at CHA Winter in the new year.

As I sign out, I want to leave you with a song from a group I have recently become totally enamored with. They remind me of the bluegrass music I used to listen to with my dad. The group is a trio of talented Canadian musicians called The Wailin' Jennys.

Enjoy!

Public Service Announcement

Country_home_magazine

I posted about my favorite magazine buying site probably over a year ago, so I know that many of you may have missed it. That's why when I saw that they are promoting Country Home magazine again, I wanted to post for those of you who love the magazine as much as I do. I have been lucky enough to get several great sales like the one I will link to today, and consequentially, my subscription is good through 2013...I know, it's a little much, but I like that I don't have to remember to renew each year! Anyways, what this site will do is search the major online magazine sales sites and find you the best deals. They then show you a chart with all the prices and you can connect you to the site you choose so that you can purchase the magazine. I've bought many subscriptions through the sites they link to. Anyways, back to the subject on hand. Right now, Country Home has 20 issues for under $4....heck yeah, cheaper than buying one issue on the newsstand! Gotta love that! Here's the link to the Country Home prices. Let me know if you sign up or find any other great deals!

Shabby Style...

Shabby_style_layout

If you know me, or visit my blog regularly, you no doubt already know of my love of all things shabby. This is a layout I did a few months back for the Canadian Scrapbooker magazine. The article was about using deco scissors. I really liked the way the layout turned out. It was one of those where everything just sort of came together easily. (Gotta love it when that happens!)

Supply list:
Cardstock: WorldWin
Patterned paper: Creative Imaginations
Decorative tape/chipboard letters: Heidi Swapp
Chipboard swirls: Making Memories
Deco Scissors: Fiskars

You may have noticed the new banner. Not sure if I'll keep it up there for long, it's a bit dark...but I took the photo of the flowers in France, so it has sentimental value!

I hope you each had a great week and that you have a fun weekend. If I owe you an email, please bear with me. I am dreadfully behind, but am trying to catch up!

Happy September!

Card_thank_you2

I don't know about you, but there's something about the beginning of September that makes me a bit melancholy. I think it's the combination of feeling sad that summer is over and the hole rigmarole of fall activities starting back again.

Not much news to share today...Rick and I had a nice long weekend. Friday night was a football game, which was really fun as our team played well and trounced the competition 46-14. Gotta love it when the home team wins! Other weekend activities included Rick applying the primer to our living room mantle (this weekend we'll get the paint on), a family b-b-q featuring some yummy corn on the cob, and a fun dinner/games night with some friends. Good times. I hope your weekend was equally as enjoyable.

I wanted to share a card I made for a friend. Supply list:
Patterned paper: Anna Griffin and Daisy D's
Rubber Stamps: Savvy Stamps and Inkadinkado
Chipboard Letter: Heidi Swapp
Other: green sewing thread.
