Hi friends! I've come home from a wonderful time in Europe, and have been settling into life back here at home - as well as working on details for my 2019 Italian retreats. There's a lot to do, but it's so soul satisfying, which makes the work a joy. If you want to see what I was up to for almost two months over in Europe, please check out my @ladolcevitaretreat Instagram account.
Summer is a season when many of us visit with out of town friends, family and distant relatives. Here's a card I made to celebrate connecting with a friend who I hadn't seen in a while. She's a sweetheart, and I wish she lived closer! The lemon background paper is giving me all kinds of Italian vibes, so I couldn't resist using it. To complement the lemon background I turned to Catherine Pooler's Shea Butter yellow ink. If you haven't tried Catherine Poolers inks yet, please do. They give great coverage and are so juicy. I love the simplicity of taking a background stamp - like one of the funky ones from the Wonky Backdrops set from Essentials by Ellen that I used here, and stamping it in a light color, then stamping the greeting over top of it in a darker color. Truly, it's one of the most basic design concepts, but looks fab, which is why you've seen me using the technique over and over, and why I'll use it again many times in the future. I added a final touch of whimsy to the card with the crazy stitching that I sewed onto opposing corners of the greeting block.
