A second retreat added!

It's been a little quiet around here lately. Just like many of you, when life gets busy, blogging often takes a backseat. I have been posting more often on Facebook and Instagram, so you are always welcome to find me over there, where I am more prolific. 

The biggest news in my life has been that registration went so well with my Tuscan retreat, "La Dolce Vita" that I decided to add a second retreat! Can you believe it? Once Jo Packham and all my partners indicated that they were available, I decided to go for it! Workshop announcement in Prato, Italy

Today I am excited to announce my upcoming workshop November 6th or 7th, 2015 at Scrappando Carta e Ricordi in Prato, Italy (near Florence). This will be my second visit to this lovely store and I look forward to seeing returning and new students.

Here's a little blurb about the workshop:

Join Carolyn Peeler in her return visit to Scrappando this fall and get a head start on the holiday season. During this workshop you will make a beautiful, album with a fun retro/modern flair.

This is the perfect workshop for those who want to get a head start on scrapbooking your December Memories. By the end of the class, your album will be ready and all you will have to do is add journalling and photos! 

 

Your album can be used in two different ways: 1) You can use it to scrapbook your month of December. This concept, first pioneered by Ali Edwards, has gained a devoted following by those who want to slow down an capture their families memories during this busy time of the year. 2) Your album could be used as a Christmas yearbook, where you use it to scrapbook photos from the Christmas day celebrations for a few years.

 

In addition to talking about general pocket scrapbooking tips, Carolyn will teach some of her favorite watercolor, stamping and die cutting techniques.

 

The class kit will be PACKED with beautiful Christmas products and some exclusive Italian language products designed by Carolyn especially for the class. Students will have lots of left overs in their kits.

Does heading to Tuscany, Italy for a retreat with like minded creative women sound like a dream vacation? If so, save the date! My co-host, Terri Brush, retreat photographer Tiffany Kirchner-Dixon and I are heading to Italy again in 2016 to offer 2 "La Dolce Vita" sessions. 

We are still working with our partners in Italy, so registration is not yet open, but as we have had many inquires, we wanted to announce the dates so that those who are interested can check their schedules.

A little preview of my workshop

On January 28th I shared with you that I am a part of the teaching team for the collaborative workshop titled "The Crown Jewels" hosted by Terri Brush. Today I am excited to share a little preview of my class project with you. I will be leading students through a fabric wall hanging project that is really adorable (if I say so myself!).

Art Journal No. 2

It's Friday today, which means I'm looking forward to the weekend and spending time with my husband. I really am a sap, but I miss him so much when he's at work, so I look forward to our weekends together a lot.

The class, "Mixed Media Studio" that I am team teaching at Big Pictures Classes is going strong, we are in week 3 of the workshop and some of the projects that the students are posting in the online gallery are awesome! If you're curious, it's not too late to join us!

Today I'm sharing another handmade Art Journal which I made as a gift. This one is constructed with vintage book pages & wallpaper, an antique photo, old flower & milinery leaves, and gesso, paints and fabric. The interior pages of the book are all made with plain watercolor paper from Ranger. I then hand sewed the signatures into the spine of the book. Let me know if you have any questions about it!

I am so excited about the upcoming workshop I am a part of over at Big Picture Classes. Mixed Media Studio is like nine different classes in one! Each week, for 9 weeks, a different teacher will share an exclusive project, a video that walks you through their featured technique, and step-by-step instructions to help you complete their project. In almost exactly one months time I will be in LYON, France to lead 4 creative, inspiring workshops! I invite you to join me at Version Scrap, October 16-19. One special bonus of teaching in France is that it is an opportunity for me to practice my French language skills. I took French language courses through University, however I rarely have the chance to actually speak it and so I relish each visit to France as it helps me keep up my skills.

A wonderful weekend at Bambola Casa Creativa Valencia

This past weekend it was an honor to return to Bambola Casa Creativa Valencia to celebrate their second anniversary and lead 3 workshops. The ladies who came out to create with me were so kind and warm and made me feel very welcomed. It was an incredibly HOT and humid weekend, but the students didn't let that get them down and were amazing and full of energy.

Thank you to Lorena who did a wonderful job translating for all the workshops. To each of the students who joined me this weekend, THANK YOU!! It was such fun to visit, share and create with you.

And to my lovely hostess Lola, THANK YOU for making my Mom and I feel so welcomed. Your hospitality was warmly and freely given. Thank you as well for some amazing, memorable meals. And to Jose, who let 2 Canadian women invade his house for a few days thank you for being willing to drive us, pick us up and lug our suitcases around town!

Spain, here I come!

I am so thrilled to share that I will be making a return visit to Bambola Casa Creativa in Spain to teach paper craft workshops in September!

This will be my third visit to Bambola Madrid, my second visit to Bambola Valencia, and my first visit to Bambola Reus. I am really looking forward to seeing familiar faces in Madrid and Valencia, and meeting new friends in Reus.

I'm home & France teaching announcement

Hi Friends, I have SO much to share with you!! I came home 13 days ago from 5½ amazing weeks in Italy. The "La Dolce Vita" creative lifestyle retreats that I co-hosted with my friend Terri Brush were amazing. I have so much to tell you about them. They changed me...The posts I want to make about the retreats will have to wait as I have a few other things to share first. In the meantime here are just a few photos from our time in Tuscany to tide you over. It truly was a gorgeous as it looks. (And, if these photos inspire you, Terri and I are planning more retreats in 2015. Stay tuned here and on facebook and we'll be sure to let you know when the details are posted.)

So, what's next for me in 2014? I have a few more international teaching gigs yet this year. First, I am excited to share with my European friends that I will be teaching at VERSION SCRAP in LYON FRANCE October 16-19! I have 4 really cool workshops featuring the Melissa Frances product lines which I'll be teaching. Lyon is a beautiful city known for their foodie culture, so not only will you have fun at the event, but it's pretty certain that you'll have amazing meals too!
